DJing with a laptop, what's considered n00bish?

With technology advancing, so does convenience. Music storage for DJs is really easy now with using a computer as a mass storage device. But people often consider it "not real DJing" when using a laptop. If you only use it to drag the songs onto to the decks what is the problem? And considering I'm still at the stage at the stage of picking my first console, what are your thoughts?
