How to remove cactus splinters?

My mom picked up a cactus like a retard lol just a little cactus tho, but the splinters are all in her arm! Were using tape to get it out but its not getting all of it, does anyone know any other methods? Will it still sting after they are out or is some still in there? And, some are breaking off, if they are still stuck in you can it be serious? Thanks
